about mrs. corley
I have wanted to be a kindergarten teacher since I was in kindergarten. My parents were both teachers and my grandma was a teacher in a one room schoolhouse! My husband, Brian, is a school psychologist at 3 other elementary schools in Bloomington. We live on a farm with goats, chickens, cats, dogs, horses, cows and 2 miniature donkeys that I got for my birthday! I have two children. My son Jake teaches Construction Trades to high school students. Jake's wife, Karly is a teacher too- and they have a daughter, Mia who is 4 and a son named Owen who is 1. My daughter Hannah is a nurse practitioner here in Bloomington.
I went to Northern Illinois University in the early eighties and earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education and masters degrees in painting and sculpture. I think being a kindergarten teacher is a perfect job for me- combining my love of small children, teaching, and being creative. Now I have taught kindergarten for over 25 years!
Google “Reggio Emilia” to learn more about my personal educational philosophy for little children. I love my job!
